Omega 3-6-9 Fatty Acids: What Are They?

The building blocks of fat in our body and our diet are called fatty acids.
If the food we eat has fat in it, our bodies convert it into fatty acids so that they may be absorbed.

Fatty acids come in a variety of varieties.
Three of them are omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9.

The fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6 are “polyunsaturated.” This chemical expression indicates that the fat molecule has several double carbon bonds. Being “monounsaturated” fatty acids, omega-9 fatty acids only contain one double carbon bond.

The double bond’s placement on the molecular chain is simply denoted by the numbers 3, 6, and 9.  Certain fats must be received through food since they cannot be produced by the body. They are referred to as “essential” fatty acids and some of them are omega-3 and omega-6.
The body can produce other kinds, such as omega-9 fatty acids.

The purpose of fatty acid supplementation is unclear. Although there are many different kinds of fatty acids in food, the ones in the typical western diet are no longer ideal. An omega 3-6-9 fatty acid supplement’s objective is to supply fats in a proportion that fosters health and well-being.
